What is the difference between a social and professional fraternity?

A professional fraternity is bulit around a particular focus (e.g. business) while encompassing the social aspects of a social greek orqanization. Another unique difference is that professional fraternities include all genders while social fraternities are only for men and social sororities are only for women.​


Can I be involved in a social fraternity or sorority as well as Phi Chi Theta? 

 


Yes, because one is a professional fraternity and the other is social, they are considered different types of organizations.  Many members Phi Chi Theta are in social fraternities while still vital to our chapter. 


Why should I rush Phi Chi Theta?

 


Phi Chi Theta, Epsilon Gamma is one of the most enricing experience that Western Michigan University has to offer. We have an extensive network and limitless resources. This includes networking with Fortune 500 companies and incredible opportunities for professional growth. The ability to connect with and relate to students with similar academic interests is one of the most beneficial aspects of PCT. Phi Chi Theta is for you if you are seeking the full fun of college and the tools to succes after graduation.

 

What if I am unable to attend a rush event?

 


It is important that you attempt to attend all stages of rush. We know that emergency do happen; if you are not able to attend an event contact our VP of Managment (jessica.l49.jackson@wmich.edu)


What is the time commitment as a pledge?

 


As a pledge you are required to attend a weekly meeting and two active meetings over the course of the semester. Mandatory fraternity events, including active interviews, professional events. Typical week may take at least two to three hours out of your week. Rushing will help with you time managment skill to help you juggle everything. We recommend that you try your best to attend every event to get the most out of your RUSH experience.


How much of a time commitment is Phi Chi Theta?

 


The time commitment for a member varies with the peaks and troughs of the semester but it is very manageable with a full academic schedule. Once an active member, you are required to attend a weekly active meeting. In addition, PCT coordinates many professional, social, and philanthropic events. Each semester you are required to attend at least two professional and philanthropic events. All rush events are mandatory.


What leadership opportunities are available?

 


As a pledge you may run for President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Fundraising Chair, Professional Chair, Social Chair or Skit Chair of your pledge class. Once initiated into the fraternity, you are eligible to run for one of the many leadership positions available in Phi Chi Theta! There are five Executive Board positions available each year (with elections held at the end of the school year), as well as thirteen Committee Chair Positions available each semester (such as Professional Chair, Fundraising Chair, Social Chair, and Marketing Chair).


What if I want to study abroad for a semester?

 


We understand that many may want to take advantage of study abroad programs therefore you are allowed to become inactivate for one semester and still be a member of PCT when you return.
